Scope: Celtic Energy performed an energy efficiency study of this 18,000 sf historic youth detention facility in 2003.
Results: Celtic Energy was challenged to reduce costs, and improve the working environment of this historic building originally constructed in the 1950s. We completed the study and are currently in the design phase for implementing our recommended measures. The recommended measures totaled over $120,000 in construction costs with annual savings of over $15,000. Recommended measures included:
Upgrade Fluorescent Lighting
Replace Incandescent fixtures with Fluorescents
Install Occupancy Sensors
Install Photocells for Daylighting
Insulate Hot Water Pipes
Install Building Automation System
Replace Electric Rooftop AC Units with High-Efficiency Gas-fired units
Improve light levels in Bedrooms to meet Federal Detention guidelines
