June 2006 Celtic Energy completed an energy audit of the DPUC building in New
Britain, CT. Although the building is only ten years old, Celtic Energy
identified seven measures, including: lighting upgrades, daylighting and
occupancy controls, expansion and retro-commissioning of the BAS, and other
measures will produce annual savings on the order of:
- 176,492 kWh of
- 11,481 therms (or
ccf) of natural gas
- $43,840 reduction
in utility and $500 in O&M expenditures.
- This represents a
40% percent savings in FY 2005 utility expenditures.
The building is also eligible for a USEPA
ENERGY STAR label, which Celtic Energy, on behalf of the DPUC, will be submitting an application for
