Project: Energy Efficiency Study

Client: State of CT Department of Public Works

Scope: Celtic Energy performed an energy efficiency study of this 92,000 SF historic courthouse facility in 2003.

Features: Celtic Energy was challenged to reduce costs, and improve the working environment of this historic building originally constructed in 1888. We completed the study and are currently in the design phase for implementing our recommended measures. The recommended measures totaled over $500,000 in construction costs with annual savings of over $80,000.

Recommended measures included:

  • Upgrade Fluorescent Lighting
  • Install Occupancy Sensors
  • Replace Incandescent and Mercury Vapor with Fluorescent fixtures.
  • Tune up boiler
  • Replace Steam Traps
  • Repair/Insulate Steam and Condensate Piping
  • Repair Condensate Pump/Tank
  • Install Variable Frequency Drives on AHUs
  • Premium Efficiency Motors
  • Install Building Automation System
  • Install High Efficiency Chillers
