Project: Global Energy Manager -
Duties include energy audits, QA services on new construction,
development of energy procurement programs, implemented nationwide
utility bill consolidation and payment system for 40+ sites
Client:
Scope: Sample for new construction QA Services:
Celtic Energy has reviewed a number of designs for
new construction or major renovation projects around the world for his
client NCR Corporation.
- For the Amsterdam, Netherlands
facility: CEI reviewed the plans, specifications, and design
calculations for this new 100,000 square foot distribution center. His
recommendations for higher efficiency heating units, improved controls,
and occupancy sensor controlled warehouse aisle lighting resulted in
significant savings.
- For the Tempe, Arizona
facility: NCR leased an existing warehouse, and planned
to convert it to a paper processing plant for its ATM and cash register
receipt printing operations. Mr. Halpin inspected the site, met with
the design/build team, reviewed his ideas for energy saving design
features, calculated savings, received estimates from the builder for
the upgrades, and then reviewed the plans prior to construction. Energy
conservation measures (ECMs) included higher SEER heat pumps,
compressed air system improvements, and lighting controls.
- For the Dundee,Scotland
facility: CEI was asked to review the architects’
schematic plans and design briefs for NCR’s new state-of-the-art
customer call-in center, “EuroCentral”. Mr. Halpin reviewed the design
briefs, and schematics, and made recommendations for cost-effective
measures such as incorporating demand controlled ventilation, use of
VFDs, and occupancy sensors, that would modestly improve the energy
efficiency of the facility without delaying the project, or causing
cost overruns.
Results: Total accumulated savings +$1 million dollars over the lifetime of the facilities
