Mr. Coughlin performs as an energy engineer for Celtic Energy. With this position comes the responsibility of energy efficiency analysis, research, and development. He analyzes existing energy systems and their performance, surveys mechanical equipment and lighting, constructs baseline models with utility history and completes savings calculations for the energy conservation projects a facility may be qualified for. Mr. Coughlin also works with the other members of the Celtic Energy team to devise and implement master energy plans for existing commercial and industrial facilities.
Mr. Coughlin is currently performing building field surveys at Middlesex Community College, Lowell campus for the Massachusetts Department of Capital Asset Management (DCAM).
As a former employee of vanZelm Engineers in Farmington, CT, Mr. Coughlin worked in their Energy Team. During his time there, he performed several building energy audits with detailed calculations of anticipated energy savings for such clients as Williams College, Dartmouth College, Eppendorf Manufacturing, Greenwich Hospital and UCONN Waterbury. Mr. Coughlin also performed cogeneration and renewable energy feasibility studies followed by system designs. In addition, Mr. Coughlin worked on design drawings, schematics and specifications for HVAC work.
Mr. Coughlin has a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from University of Rhode Island. He is a current member of the American Society of Heating Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) and American Energy Engineers (AEE) and has been a member of American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE).
